To avoid the situation of being without teeth after an extraction, the denturist must implement the immediate denture treatment. This involves taking impressions before extractions of natural teeth. The denturist can then fabricate a denture prior to the extraction so that the dentist can insert them.
In the event of an individual having an extraction, tooth loss can effect the quality of a persons life by restricting the ability to chew properly and can become an affliction to ones aesthetics. An immediate denture is a temporary solution to help accommodate these factors, as aesthetics are very important to some people. Also, this denture can also act as a bandage and maintaining pressure on the open tissues to promote faster healing.
Before the extraction process, the denturist will take an impression and fabricate a denture to replace the tooth/teeth that will be extracted. On the model, the tooth will be cut out to imitate the extraction site and a tooth will replace it on the denture. After the extraction, the dentist will then immediately insert in the denture. The patient is then advised to return to the denturist in 24 hours for any adjustments. Relines and adjustment are common in this treatment.
It is imperative that the patient follows post operative instructions to boost the healing process. As healing occurs, the tissue will recede and frequent adjustments may be required. After, either a reline will be made to adapt to the changes of the tissues, or a new denture can be made. Tissue conditioner or even soft liner may be a solution to to ensure the best comfort.

- Because of teeth still being in place, you cannot see how dentures will look in your mouth until natural teeth are removed
- Immediate dentures are more costly because of additional time required for construction

- 50% down payment is required before starting treatment
- Consensus must be given in contract by client before commencing treatment
- Patients will be given 6 weeks if they decide refund their denture (80% of total treatment cost)
- We will not be responsible for appliances that has been tampered with outside of our practice
- Clients will not receive their appliance if not fully paid
- Cheques that have not been certified will not be accepted
- Dentures may be financed upon credit and asset assessment
- Procedures outside of our scope of practice, will be charged by the appropriate practitioner
- If demands are not met, patient may be referred to another specialist
